Spam protection: what is blocked and why
SMS works because people still trust what arrives on their phone. That is why we protect recipients from spam and fraud, and why that protects our honest customers too: their messages do not get lost in the noise.
There are two checks worth knowing about from the start.
Text filter
Before every send, the text is checked against rules set by the platform administrator. The check ignores capital letters and accents.
If a text matches a rule:
- the message is not sent,
- you are not charged, because the check runs before any charge,
- you see right away that the spam filter stopped it.
Locked sender names
Some sender names cannot be used by just anyone, for example names that look like banks or other well-known brands. That is the most common way phishing is done, so we close it.
The check is hard to fool: a name with digits in place of letters, or with dots inside, is treated as the original. If a name is locked, the panel does not accept it when you add it and tells you it is not allowed.
If the name really is yours (for example your company name contains a well-known word), contact us. We can approve it for your account.
It applies everywhere
The same checks apply however you send: the panel, the HTTP API and SMPP. There is no route around them.
If a legitimate message is stopped
No rule is perfect, and rarely it can stop a message that is perfectly fine, for example an offer using words scammers also use. In that case:
- You have lost no money, because the message was not charged.
- Try wording the text differently.
- If it keeps being stopped, write to us with the text and your account and we will look at it.
We do not publish the list of rules, so that it does not become a guide to getting around them.
